Featuring Milwaukee artist, educator, and designer Sara Terrell.

In my paintings I have combined my love for Milwaukee and architecture in a series called Feels Like Coming Home. Every property in this collection has created memories for me that have shaped my time in Milwaukee for the last 18 years. In my paintings you may see playful colors, imperfect lines and textured layers. These features not only describe my work but my life in Milwaukee as well. I hope as a fellow resident of this city or even just the world you can see yourself in these buildings and find a connection with me and the places around us.

Bio:
Sara Terrell is an art educator, designer and artist living and working in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She creates a variety of art and design and loves doing custom work for clients. In 2010, Sara graduated from Mount Mary University with a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design. In 2013, she returned to Mount Mary University and graduated in 2017 with a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Art Education. Since then, Sara has been teaching art at Deer Creek Intermediate School in St. Francis, WI. Sara has also continued her own design and art practice. Featuring Briana Lovitt – 90s/2000s animation related nostalgia

Adulting is stressful. One of my coping mechanisms is to watch favorite animated movies and tv shows from the past. Reflecting on my years at MIAD, I felt the need to return to painting. The real question was of what? Producing favorite animations onto colorful canvas brings such happiness and satisfaction. The best part is showing my son the finished piece that he may or may not recognize. The joy on his face would melt anyones heart. I hope to bring you a feeling of nostalgia for times gone by and a smile to your face remembering a simpler time in life

Abstract Paintings by Mike McCutcheon & Rob Sieracki. Complimentary refreshments available.

Mike McCutcheon is a midwestern artist currently residing in Chicago. His art is often abstract expressionist, occasionally figurative but always honest and emotional. Sometimes that emotion is heavy, but more often it is whimsical or absurd. A long time musician, Mike originally started painting because he needed paintings. But he has since gone on to exhibit in several galleries and spaces in Chicago. This event will be his first in Milwaukee, a town he loves and lived in part-time for much of the 1990s. Mike’s friend Rob Sieracki, a Milwaukee artist and musician who lived in Chicago in the 1990s, will also show new abstract paintings based in acrylic.
