Artist Statement

Andrea Bowes: I am an egg tempera artist, painting contemporary icons in an ancient 15th century tradition. Windows to the divine, icons bring spiritual energy into the life of those who embrace them.

Katherine de Shazer: I am an iconographer and artist, using the medium of egg tempera to create the sacred and the secular. From icons in the Eastern Orthodox aesthetic to portraits, the unique luminosity of egg tempera will also be highlighted during short demonstrations of the painting technique.

Eva Erato-Rudek: I am a Reiki Master Teacher and owner of Naughty Dogs Studio, specializing in pet portraits that show the fun side of the animals she photographs. Fun and unique gifts for anyone who loves animals, or fun art!

Ricky Heldt: Yoga Instructor, Thai Massage Body Worker and Photographer showing photography from my recent travels while studying yoga in India. I have a BFA in photography from Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design.

Tia Richardson: I’m a muralist, portrait artist, graphic designer and educator based in Milwaukee, WI. My mediums are oil and acrylic and working theme is of goddess, spirit and humanity

Sheila Semrou: I am inspired by colors found in nature – especially sky and water. I capture beautiful images with photography and later paint them on canvas. My peaceful, distant vistas encourage meditation, relaxation, and reflection.”

Kelly Tanner: “The inspiring thing about art is it’s an expression of how the artist feels and what they see. Photography, in particular, is wonderful in this regard which is one reason I love taking photographs myself, but also appreciate and love to observe how other people take pictures.”

Michele Tegen: My medium is feathers and I create Spirit Feather items that include; jewelry, wands, fetishes and sculpture. All of the feathers used in my work are found (gifted) or gifted to me by others that find them. Sacred Copal (Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils from Native American Nutritionals) sprays will be available and can also be customized this evening.

Karen Williams-Brusubardis: Growing up in the woods, I was inspired by the natural world, “Observing life cycles and patterns in nature as well as how humans interact with that system is a very spiritual experience for me.” I will be exhibiting mixed media drawings on paper and wire wrapped jewelry.
